You go from an out of the box range of 150 feet (WiFi), minimum of 800+ feet with this radio.  The distance of radio control range can be up to 1 mile, depending on your area.  But the minimum radio control range should be 800 feet.

Total modification takes 10 minutes; you have to cut a small amount of foam for the indoor and or outdoor hulls. Tape the receiver / interface to the drone, route the wire around the drone and plug it in. Last step is to tape the receiver’s antenna down.

It takes a couple of minutes get used to it, but once you do you will never look back. If you do have an “ i “ device (iphone/ipod/ipad) and an AR Drone App you can connect to the drone at the same time and watch/record the video while you fly using the RC Controller.  You can hand this to most kids and within a minute or two they are flying like a pro.
Visual Low Battery Alert, the threshold is set at 15% of battery capacity.

This radio is preprogrammed but can be used for other RC projects - Programming cable and binding plug included.

"Can I use my radio I already have"  Yes it is possible, but there a few things you need to know.  I modify my radios so that all the flight sticks are spring loaded to the center, without this the drone would be very hard to start and control.  I build the interface onto the receiver for size and weight considerations.  Then the radio is not easy to set up or mix correctly, if everything is not set just right the drone will not fly, and it is very picky on the trim settings.
